Jenny Slatten’s emotional ALS announcement has now been followed by a major fundraising effort, as her friend Penny Minincleri launches a campaign seeking 250,000 USD to support Jenny’s rapidly increasing medical needs.
Penny explains that Jenny has been diagnosed with bulbar-onset Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, and although she is still in the early stages, she is already experiencing changes in her voice, slurred speech, and difficulty swallowing. With ALS being a progressive and unforgiving disease, the fundraiser aims to help Jenny prepare for the escalating care she will require.
According to the fundraiser, the financial burden is overwhelming. Penny says that medication alone is expected to cost over 200,000 USD per year. On top of that, Jenny will need mobility equipment such as a walker and wheelchair, in-home caregiver support, and future hospital treatments as the disease progresses. These costs reflect the harsh reality of ALS care, where patients often require constant assistance and specialized equipment just to maintain basic comfort and safety.
The campaign also highlights the emotional side of Jenny’s journey. Penny hopes the funds will help Jenny’s daughters, Christina and Dominique, spend extended time in India to support their mother and Sumit during this difficult period. She describes Jenny and Sumit as loving, genuine, kindhearted people who have always shown warmth to others, and now the community is being asked to rally behind them. With only a small portion of the goal raised so far, the fundraiser urges fans and supporters to help ease the overwhelming financial strain and ensure Jenny receives the care she needs as she faces ALS head-on.
