Former 90 Day Fiancé star Ashley Martson and her beauty salon helped investigators catch a murderer on the run in York County, Pennsylvania

The trial of David Hartsook, a York man accused of killing security guard Troy Rickenbach and injuring Rafael Yambo during a 2022 shooting in Berks County, opened this week with emotional testimony and a surprising pop‑culture link.

Prosecutors say Hartsook fired five shots at the two men as they patrolled a dark commercial vehicle lot near New Morgan Borough, killing Rickenbach and leaving Yambo with serious injuries. Investigators built their case using eyewitness accounts, shell casings, a broken auto part, and a handgun later recovered from Hartsook’s home.

A major break in the homicide investigation came months later, when police connected Hartsook to a string of thefts in York County. According to charging documents, officers recovered stolen construction equipment and other items during searches tied to those cases. But the most unusual twist emerged from a February 2023 burglary at a York County beauty salon — a crime that ultimately helped investigators locate the firearm linked to the killing.

That salon, Martson Hair Co., is co‑owned by Ashley Martson, a former cast member of the reality TV show 90 Day Fiancé.

Security footage captured two masked men entering the business around 2:15 a.m., stealing thousands of dollars in products, equipment, and two safes. Video of the suspects and their van led police to Hartsook’s home, where officers found the stolen salon items — and later, the .32‑caliber Colt handgun that ballistics matched to the Berks County homicide. Martson is not involved in the murder case; she is the victim of a separate burglary committed by the same man now standing trial for Rickenbach’s death.
